Overview
Ever feel like you’re in Tapeout Hell for week after week without even knowing where you were or when you’re going to be done? As a physical design engineer, do you feel a challenge getting the architects to help give you insight into how to best floorplan the design? As a manager, are you looking for a way to better visualize the closure process?
Solution
In our discussions with customers, these were several themes that kept coming back as problems during design closure. The first is the need to communicate the progress of the design toward closure across the design team. The second is the ability to see historical data in order to gain insight about where there are big hairy issues in the design.
Tuscany Dashboard helps resolve this in two different ways. First, by aggregating all of your closure data into a single location, Dashboard is able to produce comprehensive and readable web pages that let you not only see key metrics on the design, but also show you pictures of the layout for a particular path (including routing) so that you can quickly understand what is going on in the design. By creating pictures of the various paths, you can more easily understand the story of the design and how to go about resolving the remaining issues. (All this by simply navigating your browser.) Want your architects to look at a particular path? Just send them a URL.
Second, Tuscany Dashboard provides historical information over time. This allows you to do comparisons across different runs as well as to see whether you are truly closing in on getting your design done. You can quickly determine which paths are stubbornly resisting efforts toward closure and identify ways to solve them.
Tuscany Dashboard provides a very simply action tracking that allows you to dialog about a particular block, timing report, or path so that teams can collaborate toward closing the design.
Finally, Tuscany recognized that each group is going to have its own specific metrics to track. Because of this, Tuscany makes it very easy for design teams to define custom metrics that are automatically reported and historically tracked.
